A Buyer’s Guide: Criteria for Buying a Rustbucket: Potential Interior Faults

Photo: view of stripped interior- only seats & one door panel.

Most of the interior was gone

A front view showing the chrome.  It was there, the basics for re-finishing.

8) The Interior. Unless it has been recently replaced will almost certainly show its age through wear and tear. Replacement parts are readily available (with the exception of the glove box knob). Instruments may be a little difficult to obtain. My car had been stripped of its interior with the exception of one door panel and the seats. The seat upholstery and foam rubber will be replaced. The seat backs and mounting frames are very useable, but the seat bottoms were thoroughly rusted, a common problem. The seat slides that mount to the floors and allow for adjustment were solid and unnmoveable.

Interior problems were obviously nonexistent.

No worries matching colors- all needed to be replaced.

Any contributions from readers on what to look out for with cars having interiors would be appreciated for updating the site. Credit will be given.
