Photos from the 2005 annual tour of Scotland- "Chasing the Haggis" event: I'm not sure where all they're going but they've Gone Now... Due to an amazing development I'm able to report on this year's event well BEFORE it has ended.
Just as last year's tour, another three days of driving around the Highlands, but with two differences: First- its north to Tain and, presumably points yet further north and Second. I'm not going. I'm sorely disappointed, but cést la vie, eh?
On each of the past tours I was fortunate enough to fill in for one of the wives who was unable to accompany her husband. (thanks much, Elaine!) In her absence I helped navigate. I didn't think we got THAT lost, THAT often.... but circumstances conspired this year to allow Elaine to fulfill her duties once again. (And NO, I don't think I snore THAT much, or THAT loudly....) I trust she'll enjoy it. Of course, I had thought about diverting her by mocking up an invitation to some International Golfing Extravaganza to make up a team with Tiger Woods, et al., but I'd soon be found out, and Neil is rather larger than I am.... So this year I got to wistfully wave bye-bye as they all left, zooming off into the sunshine. I was struck by how happy everyone looked to be going... even the wives.... My suspicion is that this year's will be the best weather for the next twenty years, and that once my own car is viable its like will not be seen again. Oh well, here are some photos of the departures. Maybe someone will provide a few pictures of the roadside attractions... just to heighten my motivation for getting my car going sooner rather than later..... And, the upside to this is that I now have a whole weekend that I'd made special arrangements to keep free, and my wife is feeling SOOOO sorry at my disappointment that I'll actually get permission to go work on the car! And not mope miserably about the house under her feet. A mutually beneficial outcome? Copyright© 2005 James M. Wilson All rights reserved. |
